I like that kids are able to listen to the words on the screen, and they are highlighted as they are said so that emerging and confident readers can easily read along. Starfall is very colorful and interactive. Even if you only have one that could use it, consider the great songs, math practice, and phonics instruction that your child will get to do while they are playing and having fun! If you’ve got several young children, this is a no-brainer. The Home Membership is just $35 per year and gives access to all of the content to everyone in your household and immediate family (including grandparents). The regular website is great, but membership offers plenty of extra content for kids at a pre-k through 2nd grade level. My oldest kids still have fond memories of using the site when they were preschoolers, so they usually hang around to watch my 5 year old play on there. My family has used Starfall for many years. It’s been cool to see what he gravitates toward each time he gets on, because the website is full of fun activities. Lucky for me, Starfall Education Foundation gave us a complimentary review copy of The Starfall Home Membership to try with him over the past several weeks. I’m glad to give him work, and really try to mainly just focus on math, phonics, and handwriting. You’ll also be supporting the production of new books, songs, educational games, and movies.Lately, my 5 year old has been very interested in actually doing school each day to try and keep up with his older siblings. If you choose to purchase a membership, you’ll be able to access all of the FREE content as well as animated songs, mathematics, and reading activities spanning K-3 (over 900 activities!). While you will need a membership to view all of the site’s content ( starting at $35/year as we don’t have a Starfall free access code), you can still access quite a bit of learning material completely FREE! In fact, there is an assortment of age-appropriate math, language arts, music, and seasonal content that kids can enjoy without a membership. FREE apps include: ABCs, Learn to Read, It’s Fun to Read, and I’m Reading, but there are other Starfall apps starting at just $0.99. The Starfall website can be accessed directly via your web browser on a desktop or tablet and some activities are also available via their mobile apps in the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App stores. The program emphasizes exploration, play, and positive reinforcement-encouraging children to become confident and intrinsically motivated. Starfall activities are research-based and align with Individual and Common Core State Standards in language arts and mathematics. If you have a child in Pre-K, Kindergarten, or Grades 1-3 and are looking for educational online activities, be sure to check out Starfall! The popular children’s website/app offers FREE and low-cost games & activities where kids can have fun while learning through exploration, collaboration, wonderment, and play. Parents AND kids love educational freebies!
